Penny Drop 05:23
been so long it’s hard to tell hard to tell just how i feel too long on the carousel too long on the ferris wheel i get drunk in the evening just to pass the time can make a man recede into his criminal mind i think about leavin’ a straight life behind dark thoughts manifest in my chest sometimes c’mon now, you know what i mean it aint where you’re goin, it’s where you been aint got forever and that’s no lie i never ran too fast or flew too high i guess the simple things are fine and true but i can’t make ‘em add up to you c’mon now, you know what i mean it aint where you’re goin, it’s where you been c’mon now, you know every river bends and every river at the ocean ends i got this rumble underneath it’s broken hearts and it’s broken teeth stained my shirt and crashed my car stole my money from the money jar but i wont let it take me down i got some friends and my hometown all waitin’ for that penny-drop all drinkin’ beer and smokin’ pot c’mon now you know what i mean it aint where you’re goin, it’s where you been c’mon now, you know every river bends and every river at the ocean ends been so long that it’s hard to tell hard to tell just how i feel

Breaking our hearts Watching you fall Swinging your darkness Like a wrecking ball Breaking our bones Under your wheels Sinking like stones That’s how it feels Watching you fall Seeing the dust Settle like snow Over your footprints Watching you go You’re disappearing On the horizon What are you hearing Is it as frightening As watching you fall All I wanna do is shake you into morning And loose from the weight you drag From the pain you feel and the pain that you are causing But you aint waving no white flag Swing on a shoestring Beneath your burning bridge Watching the water For things that you did Just let ‘em go babe I love you like blood Deeper than the ocean Stronger than the flood You’re breaking us all All I wanna do is shake you into morning And loose from the weight you drag From the pain you feel and the pain that you are causing But you aint waving no white flag

i can’t get no rest here i move with my head down lord knows that i done my best here and i tried not to let you down but there’s a kind of emptiness here it takes more than what i got it’s bigger than the land i’m standing on bigger than the oceans that I crossed i curse the great world atlas i curse the shining sea and all that equals the distance between you and me I had love like a mountain I had love to spare 12 months 11 days & 3 hours but who’s counting now the miles and the minutes are all we share i curse the great world atlas i curse the shining sea and all that equals the distance between you and me they say I got my mothers heart they say I got my father’s fire in my mind I draw a line straight home going right across the sky i curse the great world atlas i curse the shining sea and all that equals the distance between them and me

Old Stones 04:15
she drove over the crest with old stones in her chest round the corner into her hometown wearing a new dress looking such a pretty mess your little princess pawned the jewels in her crown she knows she let you down burned her bridges to the ground but in the ashes she found her way back home she remembers these nights the familiar old street lights and the trees that she climbed as a child parks her car upon the stones with an aching in her bones she’s frozen at the bottom of the drive she knows she made you cry with her promises and lies she had a hole somewhere inside but she can’t remember why time is gonna drown the memory of it all she knows she let you down too many times to recall from the cradle to the grave - we’re gonna rise we’re gonna fall she drove over the crest with old stones in her chest round the corner into her hometown wearing a new dress looking such a pretty mess your little princess pawned the jewels in her crown

when we’d go fishing you’d drink green ginger wine working on the tangles somewhere in your mind drinking green ginger wine you’d sit there staring out across the lake i’d get the feeling your old heart was about to break i’d watch you go sinking down below the water line nothing else could steal you away like that green ginger wine there was no use asking you and no use trying man you used to get so mean if you ever did catch me crying so i’d just bite my lip and i’d pray for that line to slip and come to life and you’d just sit there holding that cup asking me to fill it up full of green ginger wine too much line between us now to ever put it right funny how the days just fly away into the night i’m drinking green ginger wine find myself staring out across the lake i get the feeling my old heart is about to break nobody knows where it is that i go in my mind nothing else can steal me away like that green ginger wine.

stood out on the street by the corner store my hometown don’t remember me no more I used to steal my cigarettes from there and drive around this town never looked so pretty then as it does now honey break my travelin’ bone - tell me that i’m home curse my ramblin’ heart - for keeping us apart time ain’t on my side no more i know that ain’t gonna change from the stars down to the ocean floor there ain’t no escape from the slipping and sliding away say the air up here is gonna do me good and the wrong i done is gonna fade and if i spend my time with the stone and wood maybe i could turn my shadows in to shade honey break my travelin’ bone - tell me that i’m home curse my ramblin’ heart - for keepin’ us apart time ain’t on my side no more i know that ain’t gonna change from the stars down to the ocean floor there ain’t no escape from the slipping and sliding away time ain’t on my side no more i know that ain’t gonna change from the stars down to the ocean floor there ain’t no escape and i love you now, more than i ever will again

take your time baby take your time i know it’s heavy but you’re doing fine aint no dust trailing from behind these waiting shoes find your feet baby cut your teeth i’ll be waiting down on easy street when the straight life’s got you beat you can come on home we’ll shoot holes in the sunshine till we sleep live our lives on promises that we aint ever gonna keep a little time on the wagon then you’re back out on the street baby i got what you need down here where you came from take your time baby take your time smoke your cigarettes and drink your wine when you’re ready put your pain with mine we can sink it down we’ll shoot holes in the sunshine till we sleep we can live our lives on promises we aint ever gonna keep a little time on the wagon then you’re back out on the street baby i got what you need down here where you came from take your time baby take your time you could get a job and tow the line but i’ll be somewhere in the back of your mind you can count on me

hanging round on street corners waiting for ghosts feeling mean and leaning drunk against the lamp posts with my nicotine and wine stains whiskey weed and loose change i can’t feel anything i can’t feel anything first time that i saw you in your cotton and curls you had your guitar on singing that song about a lonely small-town girl you said you had that travelin’ bone that we’d never get no blood from this stone and this was not the kind of ship that you planned to go down with you said baby don’t you want to run they can chase their tails honey we’re gonna chase the sun you know if we don’t we’re done you’re big dreams weigh too heavy girl big dreams is all they are like a hollow moon - a broken river a fancy stolen car i was anchored to my foolish pride so i watched you as you found your stride left me waiting for my ship to come in left me waiting to feel anything i’m just hanging round on street corners waiting for ghosts feeling mean and leaning drunk against the lamp posts with my nicotine and wine stains whiskey weed and loose change
